What Are They Thinking?

I suppose it's no longer possible to take random photos of other people's children, but I wish it were. The things you see when you don't have your camera!

Chandra and I made a shopping stop on the way home from Vanessa's baby shower. While we were in the store, a family came in, including a little girl who was maybe six or seven. The child was dressed in a black velour dress with glitter all over it. She was wearing makeup, and on her feet were a pair of silver high-heeled sandals. The heels were perhaps 2" high, and 1 1/2" across, but still.

I hope she was on her way to a costume party.

  1. Sometimes you wonder if it is just a case of "dress-up". Well, hopefully.

When I picked my GS up from youth club on Tuesday, there were 2 little girls of about 10 years of age wearing boots with high heals.

This is probably really old fashioned, but, I worry about allowing that in a child who is still growing. My daughter just laughed at me.

Plenty of time to mess up your back when you are grown, I reckon.

  2. I'm thinking maybe it was a pageant event. One of those "Little Miss" pageants.

I was allowed to dress up in whatever we had around, but I would not have been allowed out of the house like that. And my parnets certainly would not have bought me shoes like that.

  3. I used to clip clop around in my moms big winckle-picker (long pointy toed) shoes, too. Never would my mother have bought me a pair of high heals or allowed me out of the house wearing black or make-up. NEVER!
