Friar Tuck's Pantry

I am probably boring all of y'all who don't live around here, with all this local stuff, but this is the last one for a while, I promise!

I was driving up Main Street this afternoon, and, not more than two doors up from what used to be City Hall (and is now the Library), I saw a Union Jack, snapping smartly in the breeze. Of course, being who I am, I had to pull in and check it out. Here is what I found:

This is the building that, back in the day, housed Quick's Pharmacy. When Chandra was a toddler, we used to go in there and chat with Marge Quick and drink the best chocolate malts in the history of the world. Later, Cabbages and Kings was in there, with its crafts and collectibles, and, more recently, Keria Teas. Keria Teas was very nice, but not open on Sunday and Mondays, so I didn't get there very often.

When I walked in there today, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! I had coffee, because it smelt so good, and a cheese scone. I bought some Rowntree's Fruit Gums and some Marmite. The place is a bit pricey, but, you know what? It's worth it! I'm going to go back there for lunch, once in a while. They have Stilton cheese and pickle sandwiches, and sausage rolls! Sausage rolls! My mouth is watering already!

Their website is pretty minimal, and needs updating. The site says lunch is served till two, and the menu says three. The proprietress, Deborah Stevenson, says they have been open for nine weeks...which shows you how often I go down Main Street! That is fixing to change.
