Cool Weather Archeology

I looked in the closet,
On the hooks on the back of the laundry room door,
Under the bed,
In the other closets.

It wasn't there.

I remembered the chair.

I've been meaning to excavate the chair.
I've made forays...down a few inches, looking for
Something I wore recently.

But, it is Texas; it has been hot.
Only last week did I turn off the air conditioner and open the windows.

Tonight, it is distinctly cool and
The choice is between archeology and central heat.

So I dug down through Summer, where I found the things I didn't take on my trip,
And Spring...the clothes that fit last year, but were too small for this one.

Finally, I came to Winter, and my flannel nightie,
An extra quilt...

...and...

...The object of my search...

MY FUZZY BATHROBE!

  1. I need a pick and shovel too, Ronni, for the floor. If I had a chair it would be just like yours. I hope to excavate for summer stuff soon; right now I'm still using hip waders and a snorkel.

  2. My big mistake was emptying all the drawers to get rid of clothes that don't fit. Not mine, my daughters. Well, that was Thursday last week. Guess where the clothes are..?

Piled up on my dresser, almost to the ceiling. Sigh! It will have to be done this weekend. It must!

  4. Hip waders and a snorkel sounds like heaven to me, in the middle of this drought!
