"The Two Majesties"

I saw this in Milwaukee, back in the day. We were in town for Summerfest, which was a bunch of good bands playing in the park at no charge. When the sun got too hot, the nearby Art Museum beckoned. This is the only picture that made a big impression.

I am a simple person. I don't understand a lot of the finer points of art. I like things that express something in simple terms. The representational art of the 19th century, while frequently sentimental, is something I can understand. This, I think I understand.
