Austin Is A Lovely Place

This beautiful young woman was standing outside Things Celtic, watching the Silver Thistle Pipe and Drum Band on the 15th of March. Unless I'm very much mistaken, I know her mother. If I'm right about that, her mother used to dress just like this. She had a talent for pulling random garments from her closet and making it all work. If I did that, I'd look like a bag lady. This girl looks like a magical creature.

  1. I love that look. Being able to dress with flair is something I lack. I'd be lost from the start.

Countrygal has that special thing going on. I'm a bit of a tomboy. Don't like skirts and frills.

  2. SSS's wife had a lot of talent when it came to putting an unusual outfit together, but she always had to work at it. She would lay things out to see what "went" and what didn't. Marie would just grab anything from the closet and it always worked.

  3. I, too, have an ex with a wife like that! LOL

She is not really a pretty lady but she sure has that "something". Actually, we got along rather well and I really like her. Maybe that's because he was only an ex-boyfriend and not an ex-husband.

  4. ...Or maybe she didn't set about becoming your best friend just so she could spend time with the no-good jerk!

And then, when she found out that I was OK with his messing around (not really, but thought I should be), decided she was a much better match for him.

    I guess she was right,

  5. On Saturday I bought a couple of those skirts from the local charity shop for my holiday in Spain, Ronni.

One is blue and the other autumn colours, in Asian print. I haven't tried them on yet. I was hoping to find some cheesecloth shirts to wear as well.

  6. That is pure Sh*tey behaviour, Ronni. Yes, she may be right....they could be two of a kind.

  7. They go well with any nice, summery T-shirt. Or tank top. Add a sash around your waist, or a belt, and you are good to go. Get you some crocs, and you're set!

  8. My upper arms are starting to look a bit dodgy, Ronni. I would rather have something with sleeves that I can roll up to the elbows.

Tank tops are a thing of the past for me I'm afraid.

I'm going to keep a look out for some Indian scarves and use your idea. Thanks!

Perhaps I could be a bit more daring knowing that no-one will know me...maybe I will look for some sleeveless tops.

  9. Almost everyone's arms are a bit dodgy at our age, Mgt. We no longer expect to look like teenagers. The thing to do is flaunt your age and experience, not cover it up, hoping people won't notice that your years are showing.

Damn right, our years are showing! My arms wave a flag that says, "I dandled babies for at least five hours a day for 10 years. Wanna make something of it?"

  10. You're right, I sound pathetic. I'm gonna focus on enjoying myself.

  11. Yup. I don't care what those scrawny kids say. Getting old sure beats hell out of the alternative!

  12. Ain't that the truth!

Hope you have a good weekend, Ronni. I'm going to go to the gym on Saturday for an hour and a half while his Lordship goes swimming.
