Brendan is College Bound (Revised)!

Brendan got his letter this morning, from Cornell College in Iowa. You know, the one that starts, "Congratulations! On behalf of the Admissions Committee, I am delighted to offer you admission..."

This is a small Liberal Arts College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He liked it from the first, and he and Rachel visited there earlier this year.

(Is there a river running through Mt, Vernon, Iowa?)

I am so happy for him, and proud of him at the same time, I could bust a button! The are also offering a scholarship, and his Financial Aid paperwork will be submitted January 1.

I could not be prouder of my son!

I'll tell you what...the way he was leaping about...I haven't seen him this stoked since the Longhorns won the National Championship!

  2. Fantastic! Congrats to Brendan AND you. I am sorry that your Christmas was miserable. That you are able to show and truly feel excitement for your son and this new chapter in his life is both courageous and incredibly loving of you. Happy New Year to you and yours! love...tracie

  4. Kudos & best wishes to Brandon.

Our 3rd officially completed his undergrad - B.Sc in Chemistry last week - so I know your feeling of pride. He will convocate in the spring.

In the fall, he begins his post-grad after which we are expecting he will support us in a style to which we are unaccustomed:) (ya, riiight!)

    Three down, one to go!

Ronni, I know your "empty nesting" is going to be vastly different than what you had envisioned but I have every confidence that a new plan will emerge and you will make some awesome lemonade from life's very unwelcomed lemons.

The past 5 years have been a time of learning, fun & maturation for our son. I hope than Brendan enjoys his experience as much. His wings are well tested and he can fly solo -- what more could a mom ask for?

    Peace & best wishes,
    kathy
