Adventures With Aidan

Aidan was really thrilled to see The Alamo, and we stayed for over two hours. He listened to every story told about the building or the battle, and we watched the movie (a History Channel production). He even asked an intelligent question, though I can't remember what it was...I'll insert it after I talk to him later today.
Here's the question: "Did Texas still belong to Mexico after the battle?"

Here he is in the restaurant in the Tower of the Americas. Of course, he is trying to make it look as if he is grasping a building...

Aidan is also doing quite well with the camera. He got this shot, when I had not managed to get anything but the ocelot's tail.

Aidan is always willing to pose with sculpture...

...or discuss the state of the Zoo with an Australian Lorikeet.

  1. Good day, Ronni!

There is nothing I would love more than to stop a while and chat. This all looks so interesting and I hope it is all still here on Thursday.

Just called in to get some Playstation cheats printed off at the lybarry.

Have a wonderful New Year and I will be back next week.

    I miss you.

  3. I'll betcha some neat memories were etched in the mind of that handsome lad.

I treasure my memories of my beloved Nana even though her health never allowed any day trips.

Every Christmas Eve, our parents would load the 6 of us into the car and head off to Nana's house. To this day, not a Christmas Eve passes without my mind drifting back to those precious times. Even as I type this, I swear I can smell her gingerbread!

    warm wishes,
    Kathy

  4. The only Granny I ever knew died when I was four. I remember her as being a stiff and crotchety disciplinarian, but she did save me from a spanking once.

Aidan's other Grandma (Querida, he called her) committed suicide when he was four. About a year after his father was drowned in a swimming accident. The child has known entirely too much loss, and I want him to know that I'm here for him.

I felt like Aunty Mame on a budget yesterday, and wished I could do a lot more for him.

    There will be other expeditions.

  5. I have found that some of the best memories I have are of outings done on a budget. Instead of time and money spent on "things", it was just time TOGETHER. That's what makes memories. Keep it up, he will always remember it.

  6. I know Aidan had lots of fun yesterday. He was so quiet at rehearsal - you must have tired him out! I was very close to my grandparents, spending summers with them in Luling, lots of fishing and cooking together. After the kids were born they spent lots of time with my grandmother who died when Tara was in Middle School. Lots of great memories and adventures. My kids have done everything with their grandparents - they are lucky to still have a full set AND a great grandmother still alive. The ultimate adventure was when Tara went to Egypt with my mom when she graduated from college!
I can't wait till Avery and the new grandbaby are old enough to go and do. I only hope I can be as great a grandmother as you are!

  7. Aww...

He's actually fun. He was too annoying for a few years there, but now, he's fun.
