New Lights!

Thanks to a very generous friend, who sent me a Home Depot gift card, my hall bath now has new light globes in the old 70s swag fixture. The old ones were faceted pressed glass, very heavy and...well...70s.

In the picture, you can see where I pulled the wallpaper strip from around the ceiling. This is what happens when a house is full of smokers for 25 years, people.

Though, why Addy had Jim put in that peculiarly purplish paper is a mystery. The tub has yellow ceramic tile, and the sink is yellowish fake marble. The paper actually looked better all yellowed than it did in the first place.

I caught a glimpse of what was underneath, and can't say I blame her for wanting it covered. There are green and orange flowers under there, Dearly Beloved!

I am going to paint it a light spring green.

The green cord you see goes to a daisy night light.

Hey! It's my bathroom, and I like it. So there.

The new globes are similar to my shower curtain, and the effect is much lighter.

Thank you, my Flower Friend!

On a side note, if anyone has any old rag-bag towels they would like to donate to the bird clean-up in California, leave me a comment or shoot me an email. I am collecting same and sending them to a contact I have there.

This spill is more toxic than most, and the towels cannot be washed and reused, so many are needed.

  1. The lights look great. Green in the bath would be great. Just not the same shade as the back hall. Detty

  3. Betty has seen the back hall. She's referring to a little strip between the house and the garage, which Addy thought needed brightening up, so she painted it a sort of day-glow green.

    It has to go.

I don't go out there much.

  4. Spring, the thing about those lights is that I had my eye on them for a while, but they cost three times as much as the plain ones, so I passed.

A gift certificate is a wonderful thing!

  6. Just rushed in to say hello, Ronni. Trainees tend to muck up your job and leave you to pick up the pieces when there are complaints. Rushing ahead, trying to be smart. I take back all the nice things I said about her. LOL

    Dearly Beloved, indead!

Hope I get a chance to spend some time, tomorrow. I doubt it, though.

  7. BTW, I really love that look.

I had to buy a bathroom stand yesterday, for towels and bangles and odds and sods. About flippin time!

I had an old semi-circle table in there (which looked ridiculous), now there is so much more space.

  8. Oooh, we have towels. Where do we send 'em? Are they still needed?

And the lamp looks great! I'm so proud of you for all that you're doing to take care of yourself, Ronni!
