Military Rule Stops VFW Blood Drive
If this isn't just the stupidest thing I've heard since the Prez declared war...
"The Austin VFW chapter got word in late June that this year’s drive needed to be cancelled because the Army is enforcing a regulation that says blood donated for use by the military be collected on federal or military property."
The odd thing is that there was a bit more to the story on the TV news. According the on air report on KXAN News at 6:00 PM this evening, the rule on the books states that blood should be collected only at a military installation except during certain specific emergency situations, including war. I can't remember the exact wording, and the story has not been posted on KXAN's website yet, so I'm going with the KVUE story.
VFW members are LINING UP to donate blood, and have been told they cannot do so at their headquarters. The only way would be to set up shop at Camp Mabry, when every potential donor would have to run the gamut of the security checks in place there. Last time I was there was two years ago, and every car was stopped, and every passenger's ID was checked.
There is something very wrong with the way the military is being run these days.
I wrote a post a few months ago about the armour being used by the military. The very person who designed the armour has said that there is a new and better armour. This better armour seems to be reserved for those military personnel assigned to guard visiting dignitaries--it has been BANNED for use by your son and her brother and all the young men who have signed up to go and defend their country's interests in Iraq.
And now this.
I am incensed!
It beggars belief! Who would volunteer for an army like this?! Some country, they are fighting for...!
ReplyDeleteDon't think things are much different over here.
The problem is that I know people who have. Many of us do.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the country that's the problem--it's its rulers.
I know! And, who made them the rulers, for the SECOND time?
ReplyDeleteWe did the same in Britain. Re-elected a corrupt, religious, self-righteous, caricature of a human being.
Unfortunately, we had no alternative candidate worthy of replacing him, either.
I think our election was manipulated. It's hard to tell, living, as I do, in such a fiercely "red" state, but I don't think he won fair and square!
ReplyDeleteYou've got a point there. Wasn't his brother the Governor of Florida at the time? Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteOf course, those ballot machines could all have been doctored well in advance. Re-count, my arse!
Still is. I haven't herd that he's running for pres, or anything, but you never know!
