I got this today from a friend whose son is a Marine in Iraq.
Please, if anyone out there can help, it would be much appreciated!
Don't forget stamps are $.41 now!
A favor for a Marine Mom
The Fourth of July is coming up which is a day to celebrate our country's freedom. I would love to give a homesick marine a reason to smile in celebration of that holiday! If you can find it in your heart (whether you know him or not) to send him a card just to let him know that the people back home are thinking of the troops and appreciate them (regardless of what you think about the war). I know it would really lift his spirits!. It takes about two weeks for mail to get to him so if you can find it in your heart and your time, please send him a card or a letter just saying Happy Fourth of July and that you appreciate what these guys and gals are doing no later than June 22 if possible. It would mean so much to me. He got some handmade cards from Michelle Gould's sons and he loved them! They really cheered him up. It just costs a regular postage stamp to send something. I'd love for him to get blitzed by mail!
You can write him in the following manner. DO NOT put Iraq or anything like that anywhere on the envelope or he will never receive it. Use the following address:
LCPL SHERIFF STEPHEN P.
H&S CO. 1st. plt.
UNIT 41575
FPO AP 96426-1575
Thanks! If you don't feel like sending a letter or card, please continue to keep him in your prayers.
Renee
Wishing you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Ronni! I know it is tomorrow, but, I won't be here, then.
ReplyDeleteWish I could spend it with you....p-ing mah pants. LOL
This is a very touching plea from a worried mother, Ronni. If you could send a message from me and Robyn, please? Maybe, print a picture from your gallery, too. Nice to put faces to the people.
ReplyDelete"We think about the troops every day, in our house. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice. Wishing you God Speed, till you are safely reunited with your loving family. We honor you!".
I can't find his first name up there, so, please could you fill that in or me, too.
Please make any corrections that you see fit, Ronni. I would really appreciate this....
Well, now, I just happened to have a card at my fingertips, so I am putting stamps on it as we speak. Though, I don't think he would find it strange to hear from you directly...
ReplyDeleteGood idea. I may miss the July 4th celebrations, but, that doesn't matter, does it?
ReplyDeleteOf course not! I sent him a picture, too.
ReplyDeleteJust put the same amount of stampage on in that you would to send to the US, because it will be sent to him in Military mail, out of California.
I hope you don't hink I was grumbling about doing it--coz I wasn't.
He's a good kid, and has been in ROTC (the high school military prep organization) all through school. He just graduated last year.
