A Stroll through the Old Cemetery

We have explored a very small part of the Round Rock Cemetery. The mosquitoes were too bloody awful for me to spend as long there as I should have, but I will go back after a trip to the store for some repellant. Thank you for joining me.

These markers are for two outlaws killed in a botched bank robbery in Round Rock in 1878. The old stone, with crude lettering is what's left of the original Sam Bass marker, stolen chip by chip over the years. The new, pointy one, was placed about 100 years later. And, I don't remember seeing the one for Seaborn Barnes the last time I was in this cemetery. It probably was, and I just didn't see it. I'll try to find out when it was placed, as it's obviously modern.

This is the cemetery I used to go to on Halloween. The first year I had a car, I drove in, rather than riding my bike, and the neighbours called the cops. I had not known that the cemetery is actually a public park, and hence, closed after 10:00 PM.

You learn something every day.
