There are trees scattered all over the cemetery; big shady live oaks. But this is the only actually wooded part of the place. It's also the creepiest, day or night.
Old cemeteries are frequently creepy, even in broad daylight, because you never know when you might be stepping on a grave. A lot of the stones are just fragments, lying on the grass, and in the Slave Cemetery, chunks of broken markers have been just dumped. You can see that in the picture. Also, I assume that there are a lot of graves there that are unmarked. I can't walk in among the trees, and took these pictures from the edge.
