The Former St Richard's

This is the church the St. Richard's congregation used back when I attended. It is so small that they had back-to-back services all day Sunday.

The building is a nice little 1960's church, totally unpretentious. I'd like to live in it. It is reached by a long, one-lane drive, and is not visible from anywhere. Unless you're looking for it, you'll never find it. It has had another denomination in there, but now they have moved on and the place is for sale again. The big white cross has a church bell attached, and it is rung by pulling the hanging cord. I almost rang it when I was there, but the place is right behind the police station, and I didn't want to disturb them.

  1. I love looking at the pictures and learning about your part of the country, Ronni. Thanks for sharing them.

By the way, that did look like a Blue Heron to me.

  2. I really love this series on parks and churches. I think these are two areas of communities that have such a beautiful life of their own, completely apart from the people that use their space and sometimes corrupt it. I feel like you're giving wings to the idea 'if these old walls could talk'. Well, or 'these old stones'.

    I'm enjoying doing this.
