Did You Miss Me?

Six days without internet! And I didn't cheat and go running to my friends, begging for internet time...I just toughed it out, cold turkey. Due to a snafu, the bill hadn't been paid. No point in trying to explain; it's just like any problem any of us have had with any big company. One's account seems to fall through the cracks, until it's time to collect the money. Bah. Humbug.

So, I went for a drive with the top down. I did remember to put sunscreen on my nose, which is the part that sticks out far enough that it always gets burned. It was so nice and cool that I was all the way to Granite Shoals before I realized that perhaps I should have put some elsewhere.

This week, Cynthia Maple looked as if she had been vacationing in Spain. By Friday night, the look included the first stage of leprosy, as my forehead started to peel.

The play is going well...after we got through the first couple of performances, the abject terror began to wear off and normal stage fright ensued. "Secondary Cause of Death" is the sequel to "Murdered to Death," which we did last year. It is definitely the Inspector Pratt Show. Malapropisms abound, along with misunderstandings, mayhem and madness.

We get show shots today. I have to rely on them, as my camera is on the fritz...Ben is going to look at it to see if it's anything a tiny screwdriver will fix. The lens is stuck partially open, and it won't turn on properly. It gives me an error message and says to restart. After the 47th attempt, the bird has flown, the sun has set and the actor has changed costumes. So it goes. Call me old-fashioned, but I expect a camera that cost over $100 to last more than two years.

We have two shows we are working on at the shop. "Cinderella" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" are safely out the door, leaving us with "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and "My Three Angels." We will be starting on "Scrooge" soon, as well.

I've not got the heart to write about the Petit case, which is back in the news as the trial of the first accused is in full swing. The emerging details are far to horrific for my present state of mind. If you want to keep up, there's a lot out there and Google is your friend.

Of course, I have a cold. Gravity is helping it...it has dropped from my head to my chest. At this rate, it should be in my feet by Halloween.

That about wraps up the past week. What have y'all been up to?

  1. I wondered where you were! Of course I knew you had all kinds of things going at once. No wonder you've got the creeping crud. Get some rest, woman!
