A Hint of Autumn

Autumn, in Texas, comes and goes. There will be a norther, and the daytime temperature will be in the lower 90s instead of hovering around 100. A few days later, the higher temperature will have returned. There will be succeeding northers, each dropping the numbers down, until it's time to put a blanket on the bed and turn on the heat.

Tonight, it's going to be in the 60s! and only up to 80 tomorrow! There is a crispness in the air that has not been there since early Spring. It's nice.

The leaves have not yet begun to change, except for one sort of tree that went all yellow during the hot, dry days of August. It, of course, thinks it's Spring again, since the rain, and has a whole new crop. Those trees with the small, oval leaves, are dropping them all over, but their colour remains stubbornly green. Ish. Greenish. Some of the leaves are a bit brown around the edges, but there is nothing pretty and Autumnal about them.

I'm looking forward to morning, when I shall go for a walk. This is nice. I have some things I must do tomorrow, but maybe could fit in a couple of hours of driving around. No pictures, though. My camera is currently on the fritz, and may have snapped its last shot. I can't afford to replace it now, so, if the friend who has kindly offered to have a look at it can't figure out what the problem is, I may be SOL for pictures for a while.

Dear Santa,

I've been relatively nice this year; at least I have tried to be. I have worked hard at having a positive attitude and not biting people's heads off. I'm getting my request in early...before the leaves fall and the North Pole gets snowed in. Could I please have a functioning point-and-shoot camera and some of those murder mysteries set in Ancient Rome?

Ta, Ducks!

  1. Rather nice site you've got here. Thanx for it. I like such themes and anything that is connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.

  2. Interesting blog as for me. I'd like to read something more about that topic. The only thing I would like to see here is some pics of any gadgets.
