THREE YEARS!

Three years ago today, Meredith Fisher, acting on a phone message from her brother-in-law, Jason Young, went to his and her sister's house. There, she discovered her pregnant sister, Michelle, beaten, bloody and very dead. The Young's small daughter, Cassidy, had left footprints in her mother's blood. Here is a link to WRAL's archive of stories on this case.

Jason clammed up and lawyered up immediately, and has never cooperated with the investigation. Neither has he been arrested, in spite of a plethora of circumstantial evidence pointing to him as the most logical suspect. He high-tailed it for his home town, where he has moved back in with his mother and step-father. He lost his job, lost a civil suit, lost custody of his daughter and got kicked out of nursing school.

This article, from MyNC.com, sounds hopeful that an arrest will happen soon.

I, too, am hopeful that justice will be served for Michelle and her unborn son, Rylan. It just seems to be a long time coming.

I can't comment on your post from my phone, but I think this long process may be good in the end. Hopefully, law enforcement has had enough time to build a solid case against him so he won't be able to weasel out of it. Also, and this is my favorite thought for the day, the longer he thinks he's going to get away with it, the more devastating it will be for him when he doesn't.

Just a couple of cents ...

  2. Vanessa, your mother raised a smart girl. I think you're right about it being more devastating for JLY when the cuffs are finally snapped shut.

  3. Living with mommy and daddy after losing custody of his daughter, a civil case, his job and the freedom to come and go as he pleases cannot be the life he envisioned when he decided to murder his wife and unborn son. Now, he must look over his shoulder ALL the time until the dreaded day LO finally knocks on his door to put the cuffs on.
Would not want to be him.

  4. One has to wonder what he was thinking...

Did he think that it would just be swept under the run...another unsolved home invasion murder?

  7. Echoes. I hear echoes from the Peterson School of Child Rearing, along with the Anthony School at Dysfunction Juction.

I love my son dearly, and I always will, no matter what.

    I'm also not delusional.

  8. I would like to think that all my children are capable of killing in defense of home and loved ones, but can't imagine any of them doing what these narcissists have been doing, and can't imagine defending them if they did.

  9. Three years I have been following this case - and I have met and come to know so many wonderful new friends through the sharing of such a horrific tragedy.

I wish I could be more optimistic, but I would not be surprised if there was no arrest. My impression of the WCSD is a good one - I believe the investigators have done a great job and that they KNOW who committed this heinous crime. Unfortunately, I also believe that the reason for no arrest after 3 years is because of the partisan politics of the DA and the other elected officials. For them, it is not about justice - it is about winning cases and winning funding for their political futures. This case is built largely on CE and they know that IF the attorney with the big reputation and the big ego is retained, there is a chance that CE won't be enough to win. And winning is everything to these prosecutors. Not to even mention local government's budgets are shrinking. That was my 2 shekels.
