A Sad Day for Health Care Reform

AP Article about the Senate Committee's rejection of the Public Option.

The Repugnicans are saying that a Single Payer OPTION is the start of a slippery slope to Universal Health Coverage, which slips us on down into socialism and other dire threats to democracy.

Is there any proof of this?

Last I heard, they still have elections in Canada, in England, in France, and in the other European countries that have National Health Coverage. Last I heard, over 70% of the population of this country wants Universal coverage, or at least, a Single Payer Option. To deny the people that, is to deny democracy.

Our elected senators have sold out to Big Insurance. They have sold us down the river. They have sold me down the river. It's a death sentence for thousands of people. 45,000 people die each year in this rich, industrialized, supposedly democratic country, for the lack of health insurance.

I heard on the radio today that, in recent times, wages have increased 29%. The cost of health insurance has gone up 129% (if you can even qualify), and big Insurance profits have gone up 429%. If these figures are anywhere near true, we are well and truly screwed.

All of you out there with your private health insurance...do you not realize that, with costs going up the way they are, your employer will not be able to afford that sort of increase in this economic climate? Do you not realize the Universal coverage will reduce costs by spreading them over a much larger, younger, healthier base?

Is common sense DEAD in this country?

I could chew nails and spit rust!

Here's a link Bob Cesca's Awesome Blog, which identifies the "spineless and corrupt Democrats who voted 'no.'"

Conrad
Lincoln
Nelson
Carper
Baucus

If you voted for any of these assholes, you need to vote them out!

Thanks for the link, Laura...
