Yeah, I'm a former vintage clothes enthusiast myself, so... It's kind of Late Victorian/Edwardian, kind of Coppolla's "Dracula", kind of "Moulin Rouge", best I can figure. You can see more of it at a catalog/site called "The Pyramid Collection". I'm somewhat involved in SCA activities, etc. myself (anything to squeeze into a corset!) so I find it appealing. I'm guessing this is an outgrowth of Punk/Goth minus the sinister, nihilistic elements, and plus more color.
Chandra has been sliding into it for years, from a goth/renaissance starting point.
I may be costuming The Tempest in this style next season, and the director mentioned it, and I've been googling ever since! I've always liked the chiffon/heavy boots combo, ever since the 80s, and this is just glorious for me. I haven't got excited about a new style since Peter Max, and everything since has appeared to be regurgitated.

I am just beginning. Nothing like a bit of Glenlivet to dull the pain of a broken toe I don't have the money to have treated!
ReplyDeleteAnd, just in case you think the cost of the bottle would have paid for the doctor, it's the cheapest Glen I could buy...
