Odd

Why is there a need to post a sign like this at a softball field?

I was out driving around my town the other day and I saw the exact same sign.

I dont know the answer. I will ask my golfer friend.

  2. Because golfers will go 'ooooh' at an open field and decide to go practice their backswing. Problem is, when one hits a golf ball, it often chews up a big divot of dirt. Politeness says one puts the divot back. Many do not. Then you end up with a softball field full of little holes on which kids can trip. Voila!

  3. Umm...OK...but there's a chain link fence around it--it belongs to the high school. Across the street and about a block south, there's a huge open area that is not fenced. I think it belongs to the middle school; I see kids out playing on it in PE uniforms, anyway, and I've seen folks playing cricket on it from time to time. Most of the time, however, it's empty. And not fenced.

Perhaps I just don't understand the finer points of golfing.

  4. Hee! As a non-golfer myself, I'm mystified as well. I just have seen what golfing can do to a field. And my guess is that sign wouldn't be there if -someone- hadn't tried it. ;)

  5. I don't know, but I think it's hilarious! Is it in RR?

  6. Yes, Jooley Ann. It's on Deepwood Drive just south of 620, and just past the parking lot in front of the swimming pool. East side of the street.
