Instructions for Replacement of Toilet Paper Roll

1. Reach inside the empty roll, until your fingers come into contact with the plastic spring rod onto which the roll is threaded.

2. Push gently until the spring compresses enough to remove the end from the metal socket.

3. Remove the spring rod and the empty cardboard roll.

4. Deposit empty cardboard roll in the wastepaper basket.

5. DO NOT throw the plastic spring rod into the wastepaper basket.

6. Fetch out a new roll of toilet paper from wherever it is stored. In our house, it's under the bathroom sink.

7. Thread the roll onto the spring rod.

8. Pull gently on the end of the toilet paper, to release it from the rest of the roll.

9. Place the roll on the spring rod, and hold so that the loose end hangs in the front.

10. Put one end of the spring rod into one socket of the toilet paper holder.

11. Compress the spring.

12. Fit the other end into the other socket.

13. Release.

This is a life skill.

  1. So, the obvious question is.....

Are you an over or under TP threader?

  2. Never mind, you are an OVER. I am an under. I like for it to hang BEHIND the roll.

  4. I really don't understand why some people have such difficulty with such an easy task. A certain someone I know just leavees the new roll on the countertop. It drives me CRAZY!

  6. I'm printing this off for the male population of this household. Do you think you could make a post on how to throw away boxes that you empty in the pantry? It would be most appreciated :)

  7. I am the only person in this house who knows how this process works. I might have to print your simple instructions for the other four. lol

  9. Good grief! It must be the same in every house.

BTW, I am an over person. I have actually been in other people's homes and changed their toilet roll from under to over. How creepy is that?

  10. Thank you for this important and timely service announcement. At our house the current practice seems to be

    1. Determine if you possess a Y chromosome.

    2. If the answer to question one is "yes" wander away from the bathroom without further thought about replacing the roll.

    3. When Mom expresses frustration at this turn of events, try to appear bewildered and baffled as this concept is utterly new, innovative, and beyond your ability to comprehend. It is particularly important to indicate that this very conversation has never before taken place.

  11. Mgt. You have me in stitches. I would be SO pissed (pardon the pun) if I wandered into my bathroom to find that someone changed my roll. I would be spinning and spinning lol. What the hell? And wondering who the heck would have the nerve to change my TP groove.

  12. Roni: when I go to visit my adult, single sons--the first thing I do is refill the toilet paper. I do let it fall over the front of roll--as when toilet paper was decorated you could not see the design if it fell behind the roll.

Your blog was really funny--but you are living with a teen-aged son.

  13. LOL I'm dying here! lol omg! I am so happy I not the only one dealing with this problem..I really hate that there are TWO adult men here who even though there are usually THREE replacement rolls right next to the holder, they would rather leave it on the sink for me to hang. On the rare chance they do change it they put it on with the paper under and leave the empty roll on the sink, even though the trash is right on the side of the sink! lol
I prefer the paper over myself! I guess every home has this problem unless you live alone..and it seems to be a GUY thing! this was just too funny not to comment on..lol
