Segue to St Patrick's Day
I was going to write about the Ides of March today, but what can I really say about that? It's the day Julius Caesar was murdered. Ancient history, right?
So, anyway, Rob told me the best thing to do with my hundreds of pictures is to put them on an external hard drive, which I decided to go and get today, being as it's 80° out there, and a nice day for driving. While driving, I was listening to KUT. Saturdays on KUT are a joy for those of us who love folk music--they have a show called "Folkways" that runs for hours, just playing folk music of virtually any sort. Today, being close to St Pat's day, they played a lot of Irish music. They also mentioned where to go to hear Irish music on Monday, and said that The Silver Thistle Pipe and Drum Band were playing at almost every event. They also mentioned that Things Celtic, a Celtic shop (NO! Really?) on 38th was hosting music in their parking lot this afternoon. I drove right on over there and heard...you guessed it...the Silver Thistle! What a treat! I was very pleased to see several young pipers, and several women playing drums.
This band is playing almost continuously, somewhere in Austin, from now until Monday night.
