...Are We There, Yet?

American Liberty Teetering on Edge of Abyss

"Thanks to a government that has turned its back on the US Constitution, Americans now have an unaccountable Department of Homeland Security that is already asserting tyrannical powers over US citizens and state governments. Headed by the neocon fanatic Michael Chertoff, the Orwellian-sounding Department of Homeland Security has mandated a national identity card for Americans, without which Americans may not enter airports or courthouses."

We are in big trouble, folks.

Doesn't anybody care?

  1. I'll have to ask my DHS friend about how he feels about this today when he comes over for the game.

Oh, and our Compassionate-Conservative-Idiot-In-Chief's new budget cuts the 911 responder health fund 77%, along with many other things that help the poor. But his tax cuts for his wealthy base are sacrosanct.

  2. What I don't get is, why is nobody howling about this? We some some bloggers on it, but the MSM is covering it up, downplaying it and generally going along with the program.

It's the same way with the "thought crimes bill."

I deleted my comment above because the URL was too long. Here's a link to the NYT's article on the proposed budget.

    Examples:

A special health program for rescue workers and volunteers who responded to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 would be cut by 77 percent, to $25 million, even though the administration has said that many workers were exposed to “unprecedented levels of risk” for lung disease and other illnesses.

    And...

The budget would also end special programs to care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and to treat people with traumatic brain injury. Mr. Bush would eliminate federal money for a new “patient navigator” program, which coordinates care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses. The administration contends that these programs are ineffective or duplicate other government initiatives.

  4. I don't understand it either Ronni. It's very scary that it seems our Constitution is merely a "guideline" to these folks, if even that. When will American's wake up and see what is happening?

  5. Thanks for the link, CG.

    ...Are we having fun yet?

  6. I fear, not until it's too late, if it isn't already.

You now need a passport to cross the Canadian border.

  7. Yes, and now the Canadians are playing hardball with us. We demanded their information on their citizens for our border checks and they did the same.

Did you know that now you can be denied entry to Canada if you have a DUI on your record? I don't have one, but plenty of people here do, and they found this out too late when they booked a cruise that begins in Canada to cruise to Alaska.

  8. Eventually, the ID will be required to cross state lines. Then we will truly be prisoners in our own land.

  9. I am placing my naive hope on this election. Many of the problems can disappear if we get rid of the Repubican hickernutz.

  10. I am horribly afraid that is a naive hope, Moi. I hop0e not, but I really think this is a bipartisan issue.

  11. I used to be wicked upset and now I find myself, too often, not even caring anymore.

  12. They have decided to postpone out ID cards because the Government lost the personal details of 25 million citizens in the Standard Mail.

It beggars belief. Become a politician in Britain and you can put every family member on your payroll, even ex-wives....our taxes at work. It is scandalous!
