A couple of readers have asked me to post pictures of my painted floor. It's not quite done, as I have to move the TV and the Christmas tree to get under them, but here's the general idea...
Apparently, it meets with Tripper's approval...
It's not as neat as I would have liked, but I did it in a bit of a hurry.
Ronni, I think it is quite grand and I agree whole-heartedly with Tripper! It looks fantastic! How did you do it bricky?
ReplyDeleteI am impressed your bricks are wonder full I never could/would have kept the rows so stright. (sp)
ReplyDeleteThe color combination is perfect. It is light, bright, clean, and a perfect match for the stone on the fireplace. Super Job I bet it even looks looks good with the entry way.
Betty
A sponge, Moi.
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't take a picture of the crooked part, Betty!
Totally awesome paint job!
ReplyDeleteLove your house on the hearth.
That house was a director's gift to Jim from the cast of "A Murder Is Announced."
ReplyDeleteI'm eventually going to get the rust off the doors there, and put a fan or something in front. I may wind up using the fireplace if electric heat gets much more expensive!
I love the ambiance of a fireplace.
ReplyDeleteI miss not having one.
I am totally impressed with your floor - what a daunting undertaking.
Yes, Ronni, the hearth is a warm and toasty touch. If Susan hadn't had a fireplace when I was in Houston, we would have had to find a motel that takes great danes. I have never been so cold in my life. Her son finally came 4 days later and lit the pilot in the attic. Start gathering your wood!
ReplyDeleteGetting the right amount of paint on the sponge for each brick is an artful task in itself. Right on deario.
ReplyDeleteI think that in the case of your floor, neatness is over-rated. I just looked at some pics of newly installed mattee`ceramic floors meant to have that "by-gone age" appearance. Neither the grout lines nor the tiles were absolutely symetrical and were never meant to be. It would take away from "the look".
ReplyDeleteI wasn't able to discern if the dark square in the middle was an area rug or the unpainted floor -- which is it?
If it is the unpainted floor, all I can say is holy mackeral!
That is a really good job, Ronni. Heck, I thought it was Lino/Vinyl.
ReplyDeleteThe dark square is an area rug. I bought a little one for $30 when Don and Betty first took the carpet out.
ReplyDeleteYou have to understand that the carpet had been there as long as the house, which makes it 30 years old. The house had been occupied by smokers and cats continuously for most of that 30 years. Old smokers and old cats. So, you see, not only was it yellow plush (or had been) that was all matted down, it was also very smelly.
Ronni,
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great improvement. I am really impressed. The brick pattern ties in well with the fire place and I think the dark colors probably match your ceiling beams. I'm sure it is quite wonderful.
Don
Dark colours? What dark colours? I started light and went lighter!
