Stephen!

Stephen is coming home!

Woo Hoo to the MAX!

Did y'all know that the gubmint doesn't get soldiers all the way home? They drop them at their embarkation point and from there they are on their own. Apparently it has always been this way, and I (naive as I am) just assumed that the boys got shipped all the way home.

Is there any sort of website or organization to whom people's extra Frequent Flyer miles could be donated to bring these boys home?

Fortunately, Stephen's folks can fly him home, but it seems like it could be difficult for some families.

It seems rather callous, to me.

"Hey, soldier! Thanks for your service! Now find your own way home."

Nevertheless, it's a very good Thanksgiving for at least one family that I know of.

  1. I wonder if it is the same in Britain. Great news that he is coming home.

Hoping you find a few extra things to be thankful for, Ronni. Even if it is just privacy to go through the motions.

    Peace!

You are a very special lady.

Thinking of you and yours, take care.

  6. Good morning, Ronni! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving, whatever you did.

I had a frozen nose when I arrived at work today. It's freezin!

  7. Cold here, too, Mgt! 36° right now, at quarter past seven. I have to take the car in to get brakes, and I was going to ask if Vanessa could follow me over there, but I don't have the heart to ask her to take Ethan out in the cold. I don't know if she's working today or not, but, you know...

I can always call a cab.

  8. Ronni, the garage might offer to run you home. Sometimes you catch them in a good mood.

Yikes! I didn't realise it got so cold over there. Heck, that is slightly colder than here. Everyone is complaining at work. "Keyrist it's baltic!"

  9. Here, we call it a "blue norther," and there's a chance of rain all weekend.

Chandra and I are going to a drag show tomorrow night, and it's waaayyy downtown Austin. That's why the brakes are getting done today. The Miata is much better in the rain than the Suburban is. Chandra's car is good, too, but I like pulling up in the Miata. Shallow, I know...

  10. Hehe, you go girl!

There is a Drag club in Blackpool called Funny Girls and I am absolutely dying to go there. My brother went with cousin John, the fireman and all his 'watch'. I was so jealous.

  12. I love Drag Queens. The ones I've met are both gorgeous and fun. Lot's of "real women" would kill to look that great.

I have a great respect for what they put themselves through to be who they are. Takes a LOT of courage.

  13. This is going to be very poignant. Saffire, my gorgeous drag friend, is the son of a retired drag queen. Saffire's dad is coming out of retirement to do this show as a fund-raiser for Blue Santa.

I am seriously looking forward to this!
