The Classiest Thanksgiving Dinner Ever!

Vanessa called me yesterday evening at work, wondering if I wanted to go eat with her, as Mike was working late. Chandra was already at my house (we were both auditioning last night), with Aidan. I asked Vanessa where she wanted to eat, and she said she really wanted chicken tenders from Golden Chick. No problem talking Brendan into that!

So there we were--all my golden chicks, at Golden Chick, scarfing chicken tenders and fried okra and playing pass-the-baby. Even Aidan is big enough to play pass-the-baby now.

It was so impromptu, and yet so gratifying. Aidan even got a golden egg from the chicken machine, and so won a prize!

It is much too difficult to get everyone together for holidays, any more. Brendan goes with his dad to Grandma Toungate's, and to his dad's inlaws. Chandra goes to SSS's, and Vanessa, to Mike's mother's. I realized last year that it was too much to expect them all to come to me, as well. They were getting all stressed: "Lovely dinner--gotta run to Mom's for another one..."

I've been invited to at least one of these celebrations, but feel funny about accepting, because I don't feel like making nice.

So, knowing they are all taken care of, I've made some plans of my own. Not feeling particularly celebratory this year, I shall do some serious thinking.

There are many things in my life for which I am thankful, not the least of which is that I have survived the past three months. I couldn't have done that without the strong support of my family, friends, and community.

So have a happy Thanksgiving, and be careful out there!

  3. Harriet, I removed your comment, as I do thing there are mutts that read here. Not that there's any current nastiness (one of the things on my list of Thankfuls), but seems good to take it down.

I emailed you, and Mgt did too, so you should be in like Flynn...

  5. Ronni, did you see that there has been an arrest in the Holloway case.

And what do you make of the Stacey Peterson case, his mother is sounding a bit like Jackie Peterson.

  6. I saw that about an hour ago. Greta may have something later.

I'm following Stacy's case at CTV, and haven't heard much from Drew's mom--off to catch up there soon. I'll tell you who sounds like Jackie, though--Jason Young's mom in the Michelle Young case.

There is a phone interview with her there.

  8. Hanging in there...it's time for a bit of peace and quiet.

I love a good cold snap, and that's what we've got. The temp has dropped 30° in the past two hours.
