Are We There Yet

H.R. 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007

Ronni Bennett at As Time Goes By has written a post about this very scary piece of legislation that slid through the house, opposed by only six brave souls (including Dennis Kucinich), while the rest of us were preoccupied with California burning up.

This is how it starts, people. Or rather, this is how it progresses. This administration is coldly and systematically stripping the Constitution, while pretending to uphold it.

This proposed law seeks to establish a Commission to look into ways of preventing homegrown terrorism, with particular emphasis on the internet.

Read it yourself; it's short. Takes about as long as reading a cereal box, but, oh what a difference it will make.

They talk about it being an anti-terrorism effort, but what happens to us if the government decides that chat groups are seditious, or blogs are rousing the rabble?

The trick is that the government decides exactly what constitutes "homegrown terrorism."

I'm telling you...we are turning into Nazi Germany! I always wondered how the citizens of Germany allowed that to happen, and here it is.

Contact your senators, people. This is not a Good Thing.

  1. Bravo to you, Ronni for also posting this very important subject. I've sent letters to my Senators.
And you're oh, so, right....THIS is how it insidiously began in Germany. And we all know where that ended up. NOW is the time to prevent the horror that could follow if we don't pay attention.

  2. PS....I think you might have "me" confused with another "Terri" I'm the one from Island Writer in Florida. Your comment the other day about "missing" me....I only just started visiting your place.

  3. Hi, Terri...yes, I figured that out later, but also thought it would sort itself.

    Two "Ronnis," two "Terris."

I'd be blogging under my full name, which is 'Veronica," but liked the alliteration. What would I have called it..."Veronica's Veracities?" LOL!
