Concentration

I keep having these scathingly brilliant ideas for blog entries; some of them quite profound. However, when I sit down to write, they disappear.

Hopefully, I will manage to write some of these ideas down tomorrow.

We have the hallway floor ready to sand a bit and paint. Plus, the rest of the wallpaper is gone from the entry.

That's the Prior pump organ against the wall that I painted. It's much more peach and less pink than it looks in the pic. I'm going to do the woodwork white.

  1. Oh my, that furniture looks so heavy!

Peach is a good colour. This must be very therapeutic for you, I think.

  2. Actually, That pump organ is lighter than it looks. There is a TON of stuff that is heavier!

  3. I find it quite beautiful in a Gothic kind of way. It is most probably worthy quite a tidy sum.

The very first time I ever decorated a house was when I moved to Scotland. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the manual labour.

Stipping wallpaper and painting was quite liberating. Mostly, I enjoyed seeing things coming together and looking brighter and cleaner. It kept me away from the fridge, which was an added bonus.

  4. Actually, as they were lighter than pianos, everybody had one, and there are a lot of them about. The last one I saw on Antiques Roadshow was worth about $350. Very affordable!

  5. I like the new color, it's very nice. Maybe getting all that dark heavy furniture out of there is a good thing.

  6. Oh, it is!

I will never again be a slave to "stuff." Especially somebody else's "stuff."

My husband totally let me know, in his "Will," where I stood in his estimation--several steps below a nephew on the other side of the country, an estranged brother and a whole slew of dead people.

"Yeah, Ronni--you'll be out on the street, and your son, but look after the cats, and give every stick that might be worth something to P. W."

The sooner this stuff is out of here, the better, and if that means I am "moving on," so be it.

  7. A hard pill to swallow. I'm really proud of you, Ronni. I wish you weren't so far away.

  8. Some antiques are so neat. I collected old sewing machines for a few years (which I still have) because, like older cars, they still run, are mostly simple and the quality is excellent. Plus, beautiful.

I LOVE the door on your house! Beautiful solid wood.

Working in the house is good - I am still doing that because it keeps me busy.

    Take care,

  9. I, too, love antiques. I have several old sewing machines, myself.

But I will never again own anything that I can't bring myself to sell or give away.
