Well, that really surprises me! You are such a knowledgeable cook...so, why don't you?
If it's the cleaning up, then I understand. Urgh!
My biggest reason for cooking is that I haven't found a processed/prepacked meal that I can say I enjoyed. BK, McDonalds or KFC, included.
Now, Fish 'n Chips, I love but there is no way I am going to clog my arteries with such indulgences. Although, I may indulge 3 or 4 times a year....that whole salt and vinegar smell sometimes gets the better of me.
My grandson is allowed a sausage supper on the odd occasion. Sometimes I'm good, sometimes I'm bad. Then there is the potato fritter, OMG!
Cooking for Jim was such a joy! He would always say it was one of the best meals he had ever had.
Brendan is complimentary too, but he won't eat beans, onions, mushrooms; he doesn't like potatoes, eggs have to be scrambled and rolled up in a tortilla and he's just as happy with something that you can "boil in a bag."
One of my favourite evening meals is a tray of fresh vegetables roasted in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic cloves. Then I just grill a few chops and we are good to go. Quick and easy, that's my motto.
With the exception of rice pudding, I will eat almost anything. I'm not real wild about other things that have a similar texture to rice pudding, such as tapioca and grits, so they wouldn't be on my "A" list. I like most vegetables, most meats, most fish. Most legumes, too, except for chick peas. I like sushi, haggis, blood pudding, liver, and all manner of things most people hate.
If there is a difference between grits and cream of wheat, I haven't found it. Except that grits are served on the plate with the bacon and eggs, and seasoned with butter, hot sauce and cheese, rather than milk and sugar.
That picture is adorable!

I can see why you love those cats, btw.

ReplyDeleteCan you explain what grits are, please. Always wanted to know.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the explanation. I know exactly what you mean. Somehow I thought grits would be something a bit more crunchy.
ReplyDeleteOr "gritty?"
