I've gone to the store many times by myself. So why was this time different? Maybe because I didn't buy any Grovestand Orange Juice (Lots of Pulp)? Or white bread?
The quiet times will bring memories, and possibly even anger for quite a while. Things you are used to doing without thinking, will make you stop and think - just like the pulpy orange juice and white bread. It's all part of the process.
Keep writing, Ronni. and keep reading. You have a ton of support and we love you and are all here for you.
Morning! I'm back with some more dumb questions, just in case they might help.
Did you get married Community of Property or Pre-nuptial Agreement? Over here and in South Africa if you marry COP you are only allowed to "Will Away" half of your estate. The other half belongs to your spouse.
Well, it could help...
Loved the "Prior" commitment, btw.
Let's see if the parents still come to the memorial once they know they are not collecting the antiques?!
Tell them quickly, Ronni. Nothing is touched until the estate and expenses are wound up. That should be 6 months at least.
Bloody vultures. They probably already know that and are taking advantage of you. You bet, they're not going to give you a hard time! The lawyers will see to that.
Imagine having to say that to someone who has just lost their husband the way you did?!!!
I reckon Jim had their numbers. The wife saying she has plenty of storage space? Jebus cripes!
It is a community property state, and there was no prenup. The thing is, what Jim and I had discussed was that the piano was to go to a museum, and PW offered the rest of it. However, Jim didn't mention that in his Will, so I have to go by the Will.
The general consensus seems to be that, with or without a lawyer, I don't have to let PW strip my house before everything is settled. And that he has to have some sort of legal proof that John and Gail are to be his agents. PW's parents are divorced, btw, and John has been remarried for a long time.
I still catch myself shopping for Luis. Usually at antique stores, though.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been there. Probably won't. Not for a long time...
ReplyDeleteThinking of you, Ronni.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carri!

Erm...apologies for the length of this thing.

Ronni,
ReplyDeleteBless you in all of this mess.

To think that you are having deal with a situation like this is appalling.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you claim all your expenses from the estate, Ronni. It is only fair.
Make that free half hour work for you. Make sure the lawyer take a toilet break before you start the timer.
