Jasmine Update

Jasmine had to have a transfusion today, because her white cell count was low. She came through it all right, and goes to MD Anderson on Wednesday to find out if there are any new tumors, and if she has to have more chemo.

She has been upset recently, having finally internalized the fact that she will never play soccer again. Her parents are getting her interested in playing golf. It's the running that will keep her from playing soccer, and there is no running in golf.

It makes me so angry that I'm crying! A child should not have to go through this. She's grateful that her hair is growing back! She has been through surgery and chemotherapy and had her growth stunted. She will never be taller than 4'9". She is trying to build a life with some sort of normality to it. At a time when most girls are thinking about nothing but school and sports, Jazz is wondering if she will be told there is new cancer and she will have to go through the past year's hell all over again.

That's my anger, not hers. She is exhorting her friends to find the laughter.

Pardon me, but today, I don't find it very funny.

  2. I think of Jasmine as well.

The thought of any child sick breaks my heart.

We take so many things for granted. I have been blessed that my children are both healthy and I forget that sometimes.
