Jasmine in Houston

Jasmine will have a biopsy at 9:00 AM Friday.

Please pray, light candles, or whatever you do to focus healing thoughts.

I will post further news as soon as I get it.

Edited at 1:00 PM Friday, Sept 8, to add:

Jasmine is out of surgery (biopsy), and doing fine. She starts chemo on Monday, even though they won't have the biopsy results till Wednesday.

Apparently, the chance that it is not osteosarcoma is less than 1%.

  1. I will send positive thoughts, Ronni.

Hopefully, there will be strength in numbers. String some banners of support around the town - get the word out there.

You and Vanessa are being very supportive to this little girl. Fine people!

  2. Someone who lives in the same town needs to do that. Jasmine and her family live in Cedar Park, which is a rapidly urbanizing, formerly rural small town. I do know a few people who live there who might be able to get something started.

Heather is consumed with the nuts-and-bolts of the issue, and with trying not to neglect her other children. Jasmine has two siblings.

  3. As far as being supportive; what are friends for?

I was very lucky in that all my kids were very healthy. More and more parents are having to deal with issues such as Jasmine's. It could have just as easily been me.

  4. If there is a local radio station that covers Cedar Park, Ronni. They would find it hard to refuse generating awareness to Jasmine's cause.

Even small towns can achieve wonderful things, once they know what is needed. Sometimes it is the little things, like relieving the worry about the other siblings, it would be less for Jasmine's Mom to worry about.

Such a tough time, for her.

I was lucky with the health of my daughter, too. The worst I had to deal with was having her tonsils removed.

Keeping good thoughts for this family.

  5. Thinking of all of you during this heartbreakingly difficult time.

I can't imagine the feelings that poor mom must be having - torn between terror and courage. I will keep them in my prayers.

  6. Heya, is there any way you could email me which elementary school she goes to? I'd like to check with my principal and maybe get our students to do a 'get well' banner. Just something to let her know all the kids in Cedar Park care. And us grownups, too.

  7. What a beautiful girl. Prayers for her and her family, Ronni. Is she at MD Anderson? I'm close and willing to host any family needing a place to stay or clean up.

  8. Vanessa will check in with that info, as I don't know those details. I've emailed her asking for more.

  9. Lisa F, she went to C C Mason Elementary, and is now in 6th grade at the middle school down the street from there. Vanessa doesn't know the name of the school. Her 5th grade teacher knows about the situation.

Carri, Heather has a sister in Houston, so they do have a place there. Jasmine is being treated at M D Anderson, and will start chemo there on Monday.

  10. Thanks, Ronni! That tells me which middle school, in fact. Well, one of two. I can find out from there. Two women on my team used to teach at Mason. I'll talk to my principal and them Monday. :)
