Ben Irene has had a TIA in the past six months. Her doctor thinks she had another today. Here's a link to a site that explains just what a TIA is:

She doesn't think she had one. Still, she was supposed to avoid stress and fatigue after the last one, and maybe doing this show is contributing to both.
Martha may have a different sister. Melissa Mora is understudying the role of Abby Brewster.
Melissa is a talented and skillful actress, and will, if required to step in, do a wonderful job of the role. And it's amazing (ding) what can be done with a wig and some makeup. She is only about 30, I think, but the role is well within her range.
So it is not to say anything to her detriment, but I was/am really looking forward to playing with Ben Irene. She and I have a history of many years of work in two theaters, and we each know what makes the other tick.
All I can say is, if this several weeks of rehearsal is all I get with Ben Irene, I hope I have made the most of it.
I will do my level best with the role, no matter who is playing the other sister. I am going to have fun with it. It's just that I have complete confidence in the chemistry between Ben Irene and myself. Any other actress is an unknown quantity.
Sorry to hear about Ben, Ronni. I hope she will be okay soon.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you will get her back before the end of the run, with any luck.
My Dad had a minor stoke - the doctors thought it was a tiny piece of shrapnel, but it could have been a TIA.
Wishing Ben a speedy recovery!
If she resigns the role, she will not take it up again. I feel so bad about this. I would not (of course) have her endanger her health, but I have to readjust my expectations.
ReplyDeleteWe shall see how she feels tonight.
Ronni,
ReplyDeleteI shall hold Ben's health AND the success of the show in the highest thoughts of positive prayer!
Love and Light.
Oh, my goodness. I'll be sending positive thoughts and energy to Ben Irene, and for you and Melissa as well. The show will be fabulous regardless, but more important is peace of mind for everyone. Virtual hugs to you, ma'am.
