This skater looks nice, even if her costume is a bit elaborate with gold braid on the black. This is the young Russian, sixteen-year-old. I like the symmetry, and the long sleeves, as well as the black tights and skates. She really stands out against the ice. I don't like the fact that a lot of her costume is sheer.
Here comes Sasha. She looks nice in dark red with gold trim. Oh...it hurts to see her fall! The costume makes her look so delicate, as opposed to her short program costume, which was much more flashy. Except for the two falls, the program was so beautiful! The costume is more reminiscent of Empress Josephine than Juliet. I could be wrong, but I think the music is from Romeo and Juliet.
I do not like the Japanese girl's costume, in the two-tone blue. For starters, the two blues do not go together. The light one has too much yellow in it, or the dark one, too much red. I'm not wild about the loose sleeves, either. The biggest problem is that she looks like two entirely different people, depending upon which side of the costume I'm seeing.
Oh, heavens! Eggplant and lavender. Don't tell me...she raided her Granny's scarf drawer for dress-up! Her program is nice, but her costume is pathetic. I take that back. I'm no expert at skating, but she is not nearly as graceful as the other Japanese girl. As well, her costume makes her look blocky.
Here comes Kimi, looking very nice in red and gold. Maybe it's because I'm currently immersed in 1930's clothes, but there's something very Joan Crawford-esque about this costume, with its bands of gold trim around the midriff (are those sheer inserts there?) and gold straps.
Irina, Irina, Irina. Did you buy that at Victoria's Secret? Why do you have bunchy things around your hands? And the black-and-silver down the sides! Do you sweat sequins? Gad! I thought you were old enough to know better.
I guess the Japanese girl won by dint of not falling on her derrière, even though her program was very conservative. Sasha outskated Irina.
Sasha wins the costume award.
Good morning, Ronni
ReplyDeleteI had to tape the skating last night, because they had a programme on about Arnold and Jesse Friedman. The s*xual abuse case from Great Neck, Long Island.
I think I missed the first one or two skaters, but I managed to see all after that. I was so disappointed when Sasha fell. I really wanted her to win.
You are so right about the blue Japanese outfit. Who designs these costumes?!
Do you know when the men are on, or have I missed it?
Lesa is sending me the comments each day, which I really appreciate.
Missing being able to join in. Please send my best wishes to all.
Have a great weekend.
You missed the men. That was the first medal awarded in skating.
ReplyDeleteI missed the first several of the women yesterday. I had to run the box office at the theater, as all our volunteers were home watching the skating! Such is the life of the House Manager! LOL!
How utterly uncouth of your employers to block sites visited by employees! I'm glad the footballers got caught as well, though!
I'm glad you're being kept up to speed. We all miss you very much.
