New director, new plays, new seats. Michael, the actor we keep killing off, is also the Buildings and Grounds person on the Board of Directors. He has just, almost single-handedly, removed the old seats and installed the new. The House needed a new coat of paint to go with our new seats, and Michael took care of that, as well. Not to mention the five new light fixtures.
That was all finished on Wednesday, Final Dress Rehearsal was Thursday, and the show opened on Friday with a sold-out house.
I went up there to drop Son off (he's in the show), and open the Box Office. I looked around the Annex, and eventually called the Treasurer.
"Uh, Lynn? Where's the Box?"
"Oh, sh*t! I completely forgot!" Lynn is an election worker, and there has been early voting all week. Fortunately, she has an accommodating husband, who brought the Box, containing the money and credit card machine, up to the theater right away.
The show went on.
The theater smells like a new car.
Life is sweet.
Ahh, that new theatah smell. I bet it's really nice!
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty good, too, Nadine! The seats have fixed backs, which means there's more leg room. Nobody is complaining.
