Out of the Mouths of Babes

Chandra was a precocious child. She spoke early, clearly, loudly, and often. She also was breast-fed longer than she should have been.

One day, when she was just weaned, and approaching two years of age, we were having ice cream in a nice little ice cream parlour. She was facing the door. We were talking, and all of a sudden, she looked up over my shoulder, and her blue eyes widened all the way to huge. I followed the direction of her awed gaze. Entering the restaurant was a very large and, shall we say well-endowed woman. I had a sneaky feeling she was going to say something, and she did.

"MAMA! THAT LADY GOTS BI-I-I-IG TEATS!!!!!!!" The statement rang out and hung in the air like a neon sign.

Kids DO say the darndest things!

She's going to kill me when she sees this.

  1. LOL Vero, reading that story took me back to when my daughter and niece were very young. I was at a swimming pool with the girls and we had to go to the change room and shower, My niece had been learning all the parts of her body and her Mum had been telling me how important it was that, toddlers learn the correct words for all body parts.I got out of the shower, dressed my niece and myself and I was just putting my daughters nappy on, when this huge woman came in an got undress. My little niece said in a very innocent and loud voice," Auntie look at that ladies big GINA" I couldn't get them out of that change room quick enough.LOL.

  2. Kids do say the darndest things. When I was babysitting the very well-spoken 3 year-old of a couple of ivy-league- educated friends, the little girl said something so precise about her rash that it was difficult not to laugh out loud. Oh, I'll have to tell you in person. I'm afraid it would border on the pornographic if I quoted her here!
