Here's a gown I made for a very tall and slender actress for the play "Charley's Aunt," which was a part of our 2004-2005 season at the Sam Bass Community Theater. I love costuming and acting.
I'm currently in rehearsal for "Black Coffee," an Agatha Christie mystery. I'm the ditzy maiden aunt.
I've been involved in theater for 22 years, playing a wide variety of rôles, including dingbat, maid, housekeeper, fanatic, neurotic, duchess, Jewish mother, and tart.
Dream rôle: Lady Bracknell. Unfortunately I got blown out of the water at auditions when our theater did that show. Other rôles I'd like to play: Carol Burnett's role in "Noises Off," any one of the old ladies in "Madwoman of Chaillôt," the ageing British actress in "California Suite," and the psychic in "Deathtrap." I'm sure there are more, but that's all that come to mind at the moment. I have played several of my dream rôles: Emily Brent in "Ten Little Indians," Olga in "You Can't Take it With You," Florence in "The Odd Couple--Female Version,"the nasty aunt in "The Children's Hour." A couple have passed me by--Rita in "Educating Rita," and either Pidgeon Sister in "The Odd Couple." I'm way too old for those!
OO! OO! I thought of another dream rôle! The mother in "Night, Mother."
