This used to be a really nice park. There were ducks. I wonder where they all went. It was a nice Sunday morning when I went to this park, and the only person using it was a young man napping under a tree. The playground hasn't been updated since the early 90's, and somebody has stolen some of the fence rails. It has a basketball court at the back side, where the park butts up against some apartments that weren't there the last time I was here. And, yes, it has been about 10 years since I've even been in this part of Round Rock, let alone at this park.
There is no parking lot, so the park is designed to be used by people who would walk to it from the surrounding houses, which are tacky 80's tract houses, looking the worse for wear. For any local people who are trying to figure out where this is, it's just west of Sunrise and south of Old Settlers' Blvd. You can get to it off Country Aire. Yes, folks, there really is a street called Country Aire. Go figure!
I cannot remember the last time I sat outside in the sunshine, just for the sheer pleasure of it.
ReplyDeleteThese old bones could really do with a bit of those healing rays! Also, it is time I picked up one of my many unread books.
It was a relatively cool Spring, here, so we got to sit outside quite a bit before being driven in by a) mosquitoes and b)heat.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Ronni!
ReplyDeleteHow are your temperatures today? It is hot as all Hades, here. I am struggling to get to sleep, then struggling to stay asleep.
Sheer exhaustion is going to take over, soon.....I'm wilting.
How do you do it? Lord alone knows what I would do in the kind of temperatures that you endure. My menopause causes enough discomfort, thank you!
I'm thinking of sending my two nearest and dearest to a Bed and Breakfast on the Coast. They have a salt water, heated pool there, right at the edge of the sea. My grandson will love it.
It was 106° F in the shade here yesterday. And there wasn't much shade! It was hotter than normal, but didn't break any records.
ReplyDeleteIt's bad when 95° seems like a cool snap!
If it weren't for A/C, we would all be living somewhere else!
