Not a bad spot for a wedding! This is Marriage (or Wedding) Island, on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Tour boats were going by and passengers applauding. The man in the white shirt in the background is Jim's college friend and Best Man. The girls stood up with me. That's Addy sitting on the bench, and my friend Jeannie in the far right background. There were about 20 people there. We kept the guest list small because the wedding was out of town; a two or three hour drive from Round Rock, and some of the people we did invite were from Colorado and Oklahoma, so we paid for their hotels. Our reception was a dinner at Casa Rio, a Mexican restaurant we both like just a few yards down the riverwalk from the island. We thought about doing a dinner on a tour boat, but decided against it because of the uncertain weather in San Antonio. As it was, a couple of our guests bought a canopy, because it rained constantly for about 24 hours, drying up only two hours before the wedding. When it rains in SA, it really rains. We're talking six inches of water pouring down the streets!

I did learn a thing or two about running a wedding. First, bridesmaids hog the mirror, especially if they are your daughters. Second, staying at a bed & breakfast might not be the best idea if it's a rowdy party. Third, counting on Nephew to deliver Grandma on time can be problematic.

We had fun! It was pretty much Addy's last big party, and she finally let us take her back to her hotel at about 2:30 AM.
