I went with Vanessa yesterday and saw the ultrasound image of her developing baby. Even though it is still so very tiny, its little heart can be seen beating away at 163 beats per minute!
An ultrasound is a wonderful thing! Back "in the day," we would never have dreamed of being able to see an image of such a young fetus. We didn't have the technology when Chandra and Vanessa were born. Strange as it may sound to modern ears, we had no idea of their gender until they actually emerged. By the time Brendan came along, we had an ultrasound when he was much bigger, so we knew he was a boy.
But to see the beginnings of a baby, barely starting to form arms and legs, and yet with that diminutive heart beating a mile a minute is a true miracle of modern science.
Congratulations to you! That is very exciting. When is Vanessa due?
ReplyDeleteHey, Ronni. That is quite a cool thing to do on your Birthday.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was in Vancouver and I was in London when my Grandson was born.
Like me, she gave birth on her own. heh, the one time we really need our Mothers.
Congratulations! I hope you get the girl you want.
Her due date is January 27th, but she will have to have a C-section, due to some surgery she had earlier. So we are looking at maybe the third week of January.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new Grandbaby! Sounds like you had a very Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an exciting time for you Ronni, and this child will be one "spoiled" Grandma's baby!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had all three by CSection as she inherited my narrow hips and pelvis. The one good thing about a CSection is they are born with perfectly shaped heads!
Luv, GBoo
I had Brendan by section. I told her that skipping labour was not the worst thing, and that it doesn't really matter how they get here, as long as they do.
ReplyDeleteRonni, it's always such a thrill to see the ultrasound images.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Ronni
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was C-section, too. Such a relief, all I was worried about through my pregnancy, was those darn stirrups!
Hope you had a wonderful Birthday, Ronni!
Mornin, Mgt!
ReplyDeleteHow great...I am excited for both of you! BTW, Happy Bday--I forgot to wish you that before. Hope it was a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you and your daughter!
ReplyDeleteBack in the day the doctor would guess and have a 50/50 chance of getting it right. Lots of yellow and green at baby showers then.
