My Job

I've had a lot of jobs in my life, and they have ranged from terrible to tolerable.

That's what happens when you drop out of college.

I once worked for half a day as a telephone solicitor. I worked two weeks in a peanut butter factory. I worked for three years in a plastics molding plant. I had my own cleaning service for five years. The best thing about that was the name--"Scuzzbusters!" Yes, it was the 80's!

Some jobs have been entertaining--I worked for Half Price Books for a while, until I had to quit to look after Addy. Working at the New York Deli was all kinds of fun. Thundercloud is fun.

In all the years, I have never had a job that allowed me to express myself the way this one does.

Working for Ramona at A Cut Above Costumes is way beyond fun--it's such a joy that I look at my paycheck in total awe that I am getting paid to do this. Oh, I've done some paid sewing before--alterations, cheerleading uniforms, dance costumes, etc., but nothing beats the joy of working with a designer who sees things almost the same way I do. Ramona has much more experience than I with costuming large, professional quality community and school shows. I'm doing what I love, and learning a lot.

Everyone should be so lucky.
