What the Everlasting Fuck is This Guy Thinking?

This, Dearly Beloved, is a Freshman Republican Congressman from Macedonia, GA, hight Sam Moore.  Mr. Moore wants to make a name for himself; oh yes he does!  He has introduced a Bill (HR 1033), the Official Summary of which follows:

Official Summary: A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Article 2 of Chapter 11 of Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to offenses against public order, so as to repeal the offense of loitering; to provide that no local governing authority shall adopt an ordinance prohibiting loitering; to provide that under no circumstances shall a citizen be required to identify himself or herself to a law enforcement officer; to amend Chapter 1 of Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to penal institutions, so as to repeal certain prohibitions against sexual offenders loitering in certain locations; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. - See more at: http://legislativenavigator.myajc.com/#bills/HB/1033

In short, he wants to remove the legislative tools that help keep perverts away from schools and playgrounds.

No--really!  This man wants to allow sexual offenders to loiter anywhere they damn well please.  According to the Cherokee Tribune,

Moore said that the risk of recidivism is outweighed by the increase in freedom.
“I am OK with that,” he told the Tribune. “The reason I’m OK with that is the assumption is they have done their time. If they’re still a danger to society, they should not be free.”
“Am I saying it’s not creepy?” he asked. “It’s definitely creepy,” but worth it to avoid big government’s infringement on personal liberties.

The Scourge of the Interwebs wants to know why this man has so much empathy for the poor, maligned perverts and so little for the children who would be endangered by this Bill.  I say, "would," because I am pretty sure that, even in Georgia, even Republicans will not get behind this one.  Not if they want to be re-elected, anyway.

Dearly Beloved, I had to pop an entire sheet of bubble wrap and down a shot of Laphroaig before I could even write this!

Are we tired of these people yet?

  1. I think the key to this is when he said "If they’re still a danger to society, they should not be free.”

  2. ...And the key to that statement is the word "should." Mr Moore has no idea of the psychology of recidivism when it comes to perverts. History has shown, time and time again, that these guys do not quit. It's not like shoplifting...it's a way of life for them. Until we have some means of locking them up for longer periods of time (like, forever), there needs to be some legal means to keep them away from children.
