"Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye"
All we do right is make love and
We both know now that ain’t enough
Ain’t gonna beg you to stay
Ain't gotta ask you what's wrong
Ain’t no reason running after something already gone
Take off your leavin' dress
Let’s do what we do best
I guess everybody’s got their way of moving on
Girl rest your head one more time in my bed
Love me like you loved me when you loved me
And you didn’t have to try
Let’s lay down tonight
And kiss tomorrow goodbye
Baby who we are just didn’t work
But maybe we can leave with something out of all this hurt
Ain’t gonna beg you to stay
Ain’t gotta ask you what’s wrong
Ain’t no reason running after something already gone
Take off your leavin' dress
Let’s do what we do best
I guess everybody’s got their way of moving on
Girl rest your head one more time in my bed
Love me like you loved me when you loved me
And you didn’t have to try
Let’s lay down tonight
And kiss tomorrow goodbye
Ain’t gonna beg you to stay
Ain’t gotta ask you what’s wrong
Ain’t no reason running after something already gone
Take off your leavin' dress
Let’s do what we do best
I guess everybody’s got their way of moving on
Girl rest your head one more time in my bed
Love me like you loved me when you loved me
And you didn’t have to try
Let’s lay down tonight
And kiss tomorrow goodbye
Kiss tomorrow goodbye.
All we do right is make love and
We both know now that ain’t enough
Ain’t gonna beg you to stay
Ain't gotta ask you what's wrong
Ain’t no reason running after something already gone
Take off your leavin' dress
Let’s do what we do best
I guess everybody’s got their way of moving on
Girl rest your head one more time in my bed
Love me like you loved me when you loved me
And you didn’t have to try
Let’s lay down tonight
And kiss tomorrow goodbye
Baby who we are just didn’t work
But maybe we can leave with something out of all this hurt
Ain’t gonna beg you to stay
Ain’t gotta ask you what’s wrong
Ain’t no reason running after something already gone
Take off your leavin' dress
Let’s do what we do best
I guess everybody’s got their way of moving on
Girl rest your head one more time in my bed
Love me like you loved me when you loved me
And you didn’t have to try
Let’s lay down tonight
And kiss tomorrow goodbye
Ain’t gonna beg you to stay
Ain’t gotta ask you what’s wrong
Ain’t no reason running after something already gone
Take off your leavin' dress
Let’s do what we do best
I guess everybody’s got their way of moving on
Girl rest your head one more time in my bed
Love me like you loved me when you loved me

Let’s lay down tonight
And kiss tomorrow goodbye
Kiss tomorrow goodbye.
Now why is it that the mere thought of a girl leaving is enough to make her erstwhile partner all hot and bothered? He doesn't care what's wrong, and doesn't want to talk her out of going...it's just, "Oh, so you're leaving? OK. Wanna fuck?" And, not only, "Wanna fuck," but he wants it like it was in the beginning. Gee, Sherlock, if I could do that, I probably wouldn't be dead set on leaving!
I mean, really! I have had occasion more than once, in my dim and distant past, to tell a man that it's over, and almost without exception, the response was something to do with sex. "Just once more, baby, for the memories..." "Does this mean we won't be having sex any more?" "Just because you don't love me any more doesn't mean we can't still get it on, right?"
OK, a) if I still wanted to have sex with you, I'd probably not be dumping your ass, and b) could you be any more insensitive? Statements like the above make me wonder what I ever saw in you in the first place.
I hear these songs over and over again at work. My mind picks them apart. It's a sickness, really...
Oh, how I agree with this. And, on the flip side,my mind picks apart the lack of self-esteem in many women's country songs:
ReplyDelete"When whoever's in New England's through with you
And Boston finds better things to do
You know it's not too late
'cause you'll always have a place to go to...
When whoever's in New England's through with you." and..
"But does he love you like he loves me
Does he think of you when he's holding me
And does he whisper of his fantasies
Does he love you (does he love you) like he's been lovin' me..."
Man, I wouldn't be wistfully waiting... I'd kick his butt!!!
I'm liking this new crop of singers who kick ass and take names, like Martina Mcbride, Carrie Underwood and one more whose name escapes me at the moment...
ReplyDeletemy eyes misread the "head" line.
ReplyDeleteit was probably what luke originally wrote but had to
censor.

Hey, surf! There is censoring going on in odd places. I have another one to go after, "Fastest Girl in Town," by Miranda Lambert. One of the lines is:
ReplyDeleteI hit the bottle, you hit the gas,
I heard your 65 can really haul some ass.
And that is censored on the radio. It seems odd to me that the self-proclaimed fastest girl in town censors the word "ass" on her record.
well, miranda sure knows her audience.
