It's Fall!

This is not the elusive blue heron I stalked for years.  This fellow lives a little further downstream on Brushy Creek, in the park by the theater.  He is much friendlier than my old friend Blue, and almost as beautiful.  Somehow, being brown and all, he seems to be more in tune with Autumn.

This is Texas, so we don't get a lot of colour in the trees.  Barring a cold snap, the leaves will just sort of fade out and fall off; one day in October or November, a still breeze will send them all scurrying down the streets.  For now, we are content with cooler nights and days in the 80s.  Balmy weather.

Top down weather.  Oh, for the time and gas money to just go for a drive!  I feel as if  I could go all the way to Wyoming before I got tired!  Just load me up with Dr Pepper and twizzlers and I'd be off in a cloud of dust and eagle piss.

Still, I have a show..."The Hallelujah Girls" at Sam Bass (www.sambasstheatre.org), and I'm costuming "A Christmas Carol" after that...directing "Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune" at City Theater--it goes up in February, and "Death and the Maiden" at Sam Bass in April.  So, there won't be more than a day trip for the next six months or so.

But when the nights are cool and the days are not too hot, a woman can dream, can't she?

  1. Congratulations on all the upcoming work. Quite a few of my friends are active in community theater close by at the Bastrop Opera House Theater. I have watched the commitment it takes to direct or costume community theater, much less a production at the Bass.

  2. This is not The Bass. This is the Sam Bass Theatre in Round Rock. It's a small, 50-seat theater in an old train depot. However, our standards are very high.
