Once again, my pathetic attempt to help put butts in seats at local theaters has backfired, upset people and got me in trouble. I mentioned three cast members in "Elizabeth, Heart of a King," whose performances I thought really stood out. Let me make myself perfectly clear, here. There were other very good performances in that play. Just because I didn't mention your name doesn't mean you weren't doing a marvellous job.
However, as of now, I quit. Again. Tired of catching flak for leaving people out. Just saying.
I can't believe you didn't mention the attractive guy sitting next to you...
ReplyDeleteLOL! remind me to ask Lori to smack you...
ReplyDeleteThose are some of the dangers of theatre reviewing. When you put your fingers on the keyboard, you're bound to touch someone's sensitive spot. I've been fortunate that theatre folk in Austin generally value the existence of a a review, any review (such as yours, a link to which appears on the ALTcom 'upcoming' internal page). With so much theatre art out there and so little coverage of it, every single bit of reviewing from every source is valuable. So you've been serving the General Good! best - MM
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michael. I shouldn't dignify my bits as reviews. I just like to support something in which I see merit. It's not about paying compliments to all the actors.
