Miss Me?

I am here to say that I have survived Hell Week!  I got by with a little help from my friends.

Most of you know that Vanessa had a baby three weeks ago.  Since then, I have been staying out in Leander with her, leaving Chandra in charge of my flooding house and gang of cats.  Somehow, in the process of that, along with huge pressure at work to get "Cabaret" and "Beauty and the Beast" out on time, I thought that "The Tempest Project" opened NEXT WEEK, on the 27th.  No such luck, as my friend Ben pointed out.  It opens tomorrow.  This is Frank Benge's Steampunk adaptation of the stormy comedy by Willie the Shake, and guess who had the honour of designing the costumes?  Yup.  Me.  I had been thinking that I needed to get rolling on it, but when Ben told me I had a week less than I thought I had, it was PANIC TIME!

If there was still time to put some "special thanks" in the program, I'd have to thank Ramona Haass for giving me time off to work on the show, and Debbie Zeh for the quiet work space, free-flowing hot tea and constant encouragement.

I have some more decorating to do, which I shall tackle next week, but the show is essentially done.  As in, everyone has clothes.  Thanks also to Lynn Beaver, who made her own costume (which is awesome, by the way), and the hats.

Anyone withing travel distance should come and see it.  Kevin Scholtes' set is truly magnificent, not to mention the two tons of sand on the SBCT stage!

So now, it's back to real life, and my flooding living room...there is a water leak and water is seeping up through cracks in the slab...not to mention that Vanessa's A/C isn't working, and it's getting a tad bit hot, here in Central Texas in the last half of May.

Still, I will now have a chance to listen to the music lectures Ben has given me, and read the books I got for Christmas.  Life is sweet.  Oh, yeah...I have two or three sewing projects in the works, as well.

But, I'm back from the brink of my nervous breakdown.  What have y'all been up to?

  1. Have you called the city about the water leak? What's going on with that? I think/hope that is their responsibility. I have something else to discuss, this is not about Friday night, please call asap. Thanks, tls
