Adventures in the Dark

It's not what you're thinking.

I was sewing Friday night, after the show, and when I got done at the machine, I came back over here to the computer and foobled around on Facebook, or whatever, until I got sleepy. I got up and turned off the lights, but I had forgotten to turn on the hall light so I could see my way through the living room.

I had not tucked in the chair at the sewing machine.

The above is the result. Saturday morning, there was just a tiny purple bruise at the base of the nail, but after a day on my feet at work, the red part was all purple. After an evening in Miss Maple's shoes, the purple was all red, as you see. After the matinee today, the purple at the tip and the tiny spot at the base of the toe showed up.

Lynn thinks it's broken. I don't know. It doesn't really matter, one way or the other, as a) I can't afford to go to a doctor, and b) even if I could, all they would do is tape it to the toe next door and prescribe pain killers that I couldn't afford, and probably couldn't function on. I'm not sure I could cope with having two toes taped together, either.

So, I'll just muddle through, and be happy that I am wearing Miss Maple's shoes and not Elizabeth Hartley-Trumpington's.

Thank God for Crocs!

  1. *hugs* I've never gone to the doctor for a suspected broken toe. We didn't have insurance...uh, the first 25 years of my life, and Dad's attitude was 'what's the doc going to do that I can't?' My father was right. (Someone record that sentence for posterity, please.) ;)

Do you need anything? Ibuprofen? Tylenol? I'd gladly run to Round Rock to help.

  2. You're absolutely right, though if I had insurance, I probably would have gone it, just to have it Xrayed...but there isn't really anything they can do, in spite of our medical science.

I'm good, with ibuporfin, etc. Thanks, Lisa...
