The Parade starts at 10:00am on Saturday, July 4th. We are planning to meet at the WCDP Float that will be located on W. Anderson Avenue (two blocks north of the parade route), between 9:00am and 9:30am. Bring something cold to drink and a hat. Dress is Democratic or patriotic T-shirt casual. If you have a sign you want to carry, bring that as well.
We really need your support in this effort. The Republicans are watching as are the voters of Williamson County. We need to show a strong presence and support for our elected officials.
Please consider that we are one of the most observed counties in the state due to our progress made over the last few years. You are an important part of that progress. We are only asking for a few hours.
There will be press coverage of this event, so if you want to see your kids on TV and support the cause, bring em on! If you only have time to walk in the parade, that is great too!
So, dig out your Obama Tshirt, your donkey earrings, your Maldonado signs, your sunscreen, and just show up.
Hopefully, we'll be near the marching band but not behind the horses!
See you there!
I'll be there, in my Obama t-shirt and carrying an Obama /Biden sign to show support for our party and our President! I have a very Repub cousin who signed her emails "I support our troops AND our President!" when GW Bush was the Resident (spelling intentional). I wrote her back that a lot of her emails contained false information and that she needed to look at/read not only what I was sending her but at many other sources of printed matter besides Fox news and Rush limbaugh. Also, it was OK not to support our president, our country was founded on the idea that we do NOT have a king, there are three branches of government for checks and balances, etc, etc. She wrote me back a scathing letter, saying that supporting the president was "the American way, that's how her Mama and Daddy raised her and that's how she would always be". Funny how she dropped that "AND our President" from her signature line suddenly in January 2009. ..t
ReplyDeleteI support our president, too. This one, anyway, who hasn't lied to us.
ReplyDeleteRome was not built in a day, and I am willing to give him some time to navigate the minefield that is Washington politics, in order to accomplish what he's there for.
I hope y'all are right and I am wrong about Pres Obama. I campaigned for him and wouldn't change that if I could. HOWEVER
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I am disappointed with both parties. There is barely a spit of difference between 'em. We are still at war, even more troops are away now, the bankers and financiers are still stealing and getting away with it (except for Bernie M) and the Federal Reserve System is still printing money.
I am still hopeful, but starting to doubt that things will change in a meaningful way. With all that being said, at least President Obama is a decent human being. I really can't say that about most of his predecessors. (did I spell that right?) The previous administration was an abomination. I believe that bunch should be prosecuted and jailed in the very prisons they defended. Their crimes were not just war crimes - their crimes were against our entire society.
I will NEVER vote for a Republican - NEVER.
Goldie, i heard on NPR a couple of weeks ago, that Iraq is going to hold a referendum later this month, and may vote our troops off the island! If that is the case, we either negate the democracy we have been putatively trying to encourage there, or we pack up or c-rations and our hummers and go home. Right away.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is, BRING IT ON!
I opposed the war from the get go, but would hate to see Iraq lose all the positive things that have come their way since Hussein was ousted.
