  2. I'm going to Kaye's family with her, Mgt, and doing my turkey dinner on Saturday, when most of my troops will be available...

  3. Oh nice! How many days do people get off work over this period? When does it start and when does it finish?

Sorry, for all the questions, today.

  4. You said: I think a regional material selection today adds to the local beauty of the temple by becoming a Temple of the people and of the land in which it serves.... Regional building is sustainable building.

I agree entirely. It is so disjointing to impose the same design on Salt Lake's East bench, Bolivia, and Russia. The building should express the aspirations and values of the people who use it, not some bureaucratic solution imposed from on high.

Many years ago I stumbled by the gutting of the Logan temple, where I and 3 generations of ancestors had gotten their endowments. All that was left standing was the 4 exterior walls. No windows, floors or even a roof.

The toil, skill, and artistry of my great grand father, not to mention my family history was trashed for the sake of "efficiency" and modernity.

At that time I was not active in the Church, and that singular experience confounded every perceived and real indignity I felt coming from the Church. Architecture does affect the spirit.

  6. Most people have Thursday to Sunday off. She school kids got yesterday, as well.

If we didn't have "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Christmas Carol" going out Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, we would have had the whole weekend, too. As it is, we are closing to the public, but will be working in there on Friday.

  7. Betty, enjoy your day! That sounds like a wonderful thing to do...

I agree about tearing things down for the heck of it, BTW...an anathema, for me.

  8. Aww, I would love to see Beauty and the Beast. Are you costuming it? Please take some pictures.

  9. Unfortunately, I can't get pictures, because it's out in Rogers, quite a ways off.

Ramona designed a set of costumes for "Beauty" quite a few years ago, and they are so good that a theater in California wanted to rent them. Ramona didn't go for that, as, with shipping, there is too much opportunity for damage and loss. Some of the costumes for that are...well...furniture, and wouldn't ship to CA all that well. She improves on it each time we use them, and, after 6 times, they look pretty good.
