Confusion Reigns*

If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're “exotic, different."
Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, a quintessential American story.

If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million
people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.

If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.
If your husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25, and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now.

  2. Ya think?

Otherwise very intelligent people seem to have a mental block against liberal politics.

Lord knows, those tax cuts for the very rich will never benefit any of us hoi polloi!

  4. Again I have to say that there are two sides to every story. What you hear about the right that is ridiculous, happens on the left too. Look at Ted Kennedy...

I am not happy with the candidates on either side, but I am happy that I have the right to choose and freedoms that so many others don't have.

I thank God every day that I am not living in a war zone and pray that I never will be.

Hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather Ronni!

  7. Bravo Ronni--you hit all the high spots. This campaign is not easy and I often wonder why anyone would want to be president now!! Its not even interesting anymore.

And I cannot believe that some reader of this blog is choosing to criticize someone who--lost one sister to mental illness, lost one sister in a plane crash, lost two brothers to assassination, lost three nephews too young and SAT WITH HIS OWN SON WHILE THAT INNOCENT CHILD VOMITED FROM CHEMOTHERAPY AFTER LOSING HIS LEG TO OSTEOSARCOMA 1 day after diagnosis.

Teddy then supported his daughter through lung cancer. . . and now, goes to bed every night knowing he too will instantly die when his brain is destroyed.

Who the heck does eefolsom think IT is complaining about TEDDY KENNEDY--Please leave him alone. . .enough is enough.

  8. Hey, Ronni!

Trying not to get too involved in this one. I'm no boffin when it comes to politics. I pick politicians the same way I pick horses, because I like them. lol

  9. Umm, does anyone remember the Chappaquiddick incident?

This scandal was most probably the reason Ted didn't run for President in 1972.

I doubt Mary Jo Kopechne's family thinks very highly of him.

  10. Ok so if you are not a female, you most likely have a female out there whom you care very much about. If you are a woman or care about one this is something you should be outraged about, I know I sure as hell am. Gee I am sorry you were just raped but we are gonna need $1200 bucks from you for your rape kit. Sound outrageous to you??? Sure as hell does to me, and who you are wondering enforced this policy?? Well it was just some pig with lipstick, yup you read that right Sarah freaking Palin charged rape victims for thier rape kits when she was the mayor of a town in Alaska. Now I know this may be getting a bit "what if" but you should still consider it. John McCain is old, if he is elected President and dies while he is in office, this pig with lipstick becomes out President............ Oh CRAP!!! does that mean every woman in the US who is a victim of rape is gonna have to pay for her own rape kit?? I mean really the only thing more offensive I can think to tell a rape victim is "Well he probably should have just killed you cause the City, State, Country dosent want to spend the money to investigate." Ok now that I got that out I think I need to go vomitt....... And some one should tell that pig to go hop on a snow dog on a "Bridge to Nowhere"

Today, Congresswoman Diana DeGette and several prominent Colorado women specializing in women's health and safety criticized the McCain- Palin ticket's radical agenda on issues important to women.

In particular, the McCain-Palin ticket has a disturbing record concerning victims of sexual assault. As a recent USA Today article revealed, the former mayor of Wasilla, AK (Pop. 9,780), Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin stood by while law enforcement agencies under her direct control charged victims of sexual abuse for the forensic "rape kits" needed to investigate their claims of assault. Alaska has the highest incidence of sexual assault and rape in the U.S., at nearly twice the national average.

"Billing victims for rape kits is a failure of that most basic governmental promise -- when you are weakest and most vulnerable, when you have nowhere else to go, the government will protect you, and they will bring your assailants to justice," said Congresswoman Diana DeGette. "Coloradans deserve hope and opportunity, as well as personal security. That is why we cannot afford to have the McCain- Palin ticket supervising our federal criminal justice system."

The 1994 landmark anti-crime bill, including the Violence Against Women Act, championed by Senator Joe Biden, pressures governments to provide "rape kits" free of charge. Senator John McCain voted against the legislation, and against funding the legislation, as recently as 2007.

"Balancing the budget on the backs of victims of rape demonstrates an appalling lack of leadership. Nothing says 'you're on your own' like having the police charge you for investigating a crime committed against you," said Nancy Osborn Nicholas, Executive Director of the Rape Assistance and Awareness Program (RAAP), speaking outside the Denver Police Administration Building. "It is appalling that Mayor Palin allowed victims of one of the most degrading possible crimes to feel as though, not only were they alone, but that their government was working against them."

Fern O'Brien, former President of the Boulder Valley Women's Health Center and former President of Project Safeguard Fern O'Brien said, "Sarah Palin's record is not offensive -- that is too kind a term. Her record is shocking and borders on the obscene. The negligence and failure of leadership from both John McCain and Sarah Palin clearly make them the wrong choice for women, and for all of America."

In 2007, more than 132,000 women were the victim of rape. Because of governmental action similar to Palin's, thousands more were likely never reported.

Not only did Palin's Wasilla force rape victims to pay for the investigations, she is also categorically opposed to giving rape victims the option of an abortion. She believes that if a woman is impregnated during a sexual assault, the victim should be forced to bring the child to term.

"Sarah Palin's views on women's' reproductive freedom are out of sync with society. She is a radical extremist who will only endanger women's health and bring more division to serious issues," said Toni Panetta, Political Director of Colorado NARAL Pro-Choice
