This is the front window of the costume shop, with Jamie, the mannequin, in her daily spot. When we are open, she's out there, except for rainy days, or really high wind.
There are a couple of middle school boys who ride around on their bikes during the day. First, they just rode up and down the parking lot, and then one of them got really bold and got off his bike and lifted Jamie's skirt to see what was under there.
I put red bloomers on her last Fall.
A few days ago, we saw one of the boys peering in the window. He skedaddled when he saw us looking back at him.
We are thinking these kids are trying to get up the nerve to steal her. Usually, we take off for lunch and just leaver her out there by herself for an hour, but maybe we should bring her in at lunch time.
Her dress is faded, and she's a bit scuffed up, herself, but we are emotionally attached.
Did you ever see my entry on Mandy the Mannequin a while back? My boss brought her to work (at the high school) and the kids became obsessed with her. They couldn't keep their hands off of her. I vote you take her inside whenever you go to lunch. They would just love to throw her on their bikes and ride off with her to their hangout!
ReplyDeleteboys will be boys! I'd take her in if I were you.
ReplyDeleteEvil little boogers. Who knows what kind of indignities she'd suffer if they made off with her!
ReplyDeleteWhat memories! I so desperately wanted a dress just like that, in that color, when I was a teenager in the 80's! It's so Dynasty. Heck, I'd still love a hat like that!
